Why Does 0.15mm Decide the Quality of a Toothbrush?

Look Closely at Your Bristles

Examine a quality toothbrush under light. Each bristle doesn't end flat — it tapers to a point so fine it's barely visible.

That's tapered filament technology, and it determines cleaning performance, comfort, and product lifespan.

Material: Why PBT at 0.15mm?

Premium filaments use PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate), outperforming nylon in three key areas:

Property

PBT

Nylon

Elastic recovery

Excellent — springs back

Moderate — flattens over time

Moisture resistance

Stable when wet

Absorbs water, loses stiffness

Flex balance

Tunable, comfortable

Generally stiffer

At 0.15mm diameter, these are soft bristles that clean effectively without damaging enamel or gums.

Tapered Tip Science

Each filament has three engineered zones:

- Root (≈65%) — full diameter for rigidity and snap-back

- Transition (≈25%) — gradual flex, no kinking

- Tip (≈10%) — reduces to 0.01–0.03mm, reaching gingival sulcus and interproximal gaps Finer tips clean deeper and feel softer — the core advantage of tapered bristles.

Double-end Tapered: Smarter Manufacturing

Standard filaments taper one end only, requiring precise orientation during tufting.

Double-end tapered filaments have both ends processed:

- Zero orientation risk on automated lines

- Lower scrap rates, higher throughput

- Consistent quality across every brush head

Two Colours, One Standard

Sky Blue — fresh, clean aesthetic; ideal for children's, family, and sensitive-gum lines. Excellent colour fastness.

Classic Black — carbon-black masterbatch adds UV stability and abrasion resistance; preferred for adult premium

and men's care ranges. High contrast makes cleaning visible.

Both use masterbatch pigmentation (not surface coating) for uniform, long-lasting colour.

The 28mm Length

Calibrated for standard adult heads: 6–8mm anchored, 20–22mm working length, 4–6mm tapered tip zone. The proven balance of flex and control.

What This Means for Your Brand

- Better cleaning — tapered tips reach where flat bristles can't

- Consumer comfort — soft on gums, firm on plaque

- Manufacturing efficiency — double-end design cuts waste

- Brand flexibility — two colours, two market positions

The filament is invisible to consumers — but its quality is felt twice daily. That's where competitive advantage lives.
