Choosing the Ideal Brush Brisltes for Oil and Water-Based Paints

For optimal painting results, choosing the right brush bristles based on the paint type is crucial:

  • Natural Bristles: Best for oil-based paints, these bristles are made from animal hair and efficiently hold and release paint due to their naturally split ends. They withstand the solvents in oil paints well.
    • Types of Natural Bristle include Pure White, Black (stiffer), Grey, and those mixed with Polyester for cost-effectiveness.
  • Synthetic Bristles: Ideal for water-based paints like latex. Made from nylon or polyester, these brush bristles deliver a smooth finish and resist water absorption, maintaining their shape.
    • Types include 100% Polyester (varying stiffness) and blends of Polyester with Nylon for added softness.
